Househand
Terms of service
- Effective
- September 15, 2026
- Applies to
- Househand for iPhone and iPad, and this page
- Published by
- Domum Digital LLC
The short version
Househand is an app you buy from Apple and run on your own devices. Your household records are yours, and they stay on your devices and in your own iCloud account. We never hold them.
These terms are the agreement between you and Domum Digital LLC. They say what you may do with the app, what we promise, what we do not promise, and what happens if you stop paying. They also replace Apple's standard licence agreement for Househand, so this one page is the whole agreement.
Three things worth knowing before you read the rest:
- The Free plan documents up to 20 Gear and Supplies. Pro removes the limit.
- If a subscription ends, nothing is deleted. The app becomes read-only. Everything you documented stays, and stays readable.
- Export is never restricted, in any state, ever. Your records can always leave with you.
1. Agreeing to these terms
By downloading, installing, or using Househand (the "app"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the app.
These terms are between you and Domum Digital LLC ("Domum Digital", "we", "us"). They are not between you and Apple. Apple is not a party to this agreement, and Section 12 sets out exactly what that means.
You must be old enough to hold an Apple Account under Apple's own rules, and you agree to follow the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions when you buy the app or a subscription.
2. What Househand is
Househand is a home-documentation app. It keeps a record of what your home has: your Gear, your Supplies, your Properties and Spaces, your photos, documents, warranties, service history, vendors, contacts and tags. It reminds you when something needs service.
Househand has no accounts. There is no sign-up, no login, and no password. Nothing you document is sent to us or stored by us. Your records live on your devices, and in your own iCloud account if you have iCloud enabled for Househand. How that works is described in our Privacy Policy at https://domumdigital.com/househand-privacy-policy.
3. Your licence to use the app
We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use Househand on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as the App Store's Usage Rules allow, and on any device another person owns when Apple's Family Sharing rules permit it.
You agree not to:
- use the app for anything unlawful, or in a way that breaks a law that applies to you;
- copy, sell, rent, lease, redistribute or sublicense the app;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except where the law says you may despite this sentence;
- interfere with the app or with the product-lookup service it calls, including by placing unreasonable automated load on it;
- try to reach data belonging to another household.
We keep every right we have not given you here. The app, meaning its code, design, graphics, wording and branding, and the Househand name, belongs to Domum Digital LLC. These terms give you no right to our name or our branding.
4. Your records are yours
Everything you document in Househand, meaning photos, scans, names, notes, values and service history, belongs to you. It always has.
We ask for no licence to it, because we never receive it. Most apps need a paragraph here granting the company the right to store and display what you upload. Househand does not: your records never reach us. There is nothing for us to license, host, read, or display.
You are responsible for what you put in the app: that you have the right to use it, and that it is lawful. If you import a file from another app, you are responsible for what that file contains.
5. The Free plan, and Pro
Free documents up to 20 Gear and Supplies combined, across every Property you own.
Pro removes that limit. It is $4.99 per month or $29.99 per year, and it starts with seven days free. Prices are shown in the app before you buy, and may change with notice; a price change never affects a period you have already paid for.
Here is the whole rule, and it does not have an exception:
- At the allowance, the Free plan creates nothing new, and changes anything it already has. The twenty counts Gear and Supplies only, but it closes every creation door: Gear, Supplies, Vendors, Contacts, Spaces, Tags, Categories, Properties, documents and import alike.
- Adding to something already documented is a change, not a new record, and is never limited: a photo, a manual, a Service, a log entry, a warranty.
- Editing and deleting are never limited by the allowance. On Free you can rename, re-photograph, re-file, re-tag and delete everything you have documented, for as long as you keep it. What changes after a subscription ends is in Section 7.
- Export is never limited. See Section 8.
Records in a Property somebody shares with you are free and unlimited, and count toward nobody's allowance. A person you invite to a Property never needs their own subscription to see or edit that Property. Their own Properties are a different matter, and need their own subscription.
6. Subscriptions, billing and cancelling
Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold through Apple.
- Apple bills you, not us. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase, and again at each renewal.
- The seven days free is Apple's introductory offer. You buy the subscription to start it, a payment method is required up front, and billing begins when the seven days end. One free trial is available per Apple Account across both our monthly and yearly plans.
- It renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Cancelling keeps Pro working until the end of the period you already paid for.
- You cancel in Settings, not in Househand: your Apple Account → Subscriptions. We cannot cancel it for you.
- Refunds are Apple's, under App Store policy. Ask at https://reportaproblem.apple.com. Domum Digital cannot change, cancel, or refund a subscription. Every such request goes to Apple.
- Family Sharing is on. One Pro subscription covers the buyer and up to five family members, in the same country, under Apple's rules.
- Restore Purchases in the app brings Pro back on a new device or after a reinstall.
7. When a subscription ends
Nothing is deleted and nothing is locked away. Every Gear, Supply, Property, Space, photo, document, warranty, service record, search and scheduled reminder stays exactly where it is, and stays readable.
What changes is that the app becomes read-only: the creation doors grey and show you the price instead of opening, and the controls for editing and deleting are no longer offered. Buying Pro again restores all of it, with your records untouched.
8. Export is never restricted
You can export everything you have documented to a file you keep: on Free, on Pro, after a subscription ends, at any time. There is no state of this app in which your records are held hostage to a payment. That promise is deliberate and permanent.
9. iCloud, sharing, and backups
Househand uses Apple's iCloud to sync your household between your devices and to share a Property with another person. That is Apple's service, governed by your agreement with Apple.
- How much you can store depends on your iCloud plan and what else is using it. We cannot change your storage plan, see your usage, or recover anything from it.
- Sharing a Property works like a shared note: you invite someone, they see that Property and nothing else, and you can stop the share at any time. One share per Property.
- Anyone you invite can add to and change what is in the Property you shared. Invite people you trust with your home.
- If iCloud is turned off for Househand and your device is lost, destroyed or reset, your records may be unrecoverable. We keep no copy that could restore them. Keep iCloud on, or keep an export, or both.
10. Barcode scanning and product lookup
Scanning a barcode happens on your device and works with no internet connection. Looking up what the number means is a single request to a third-party product database, and only the number is ever sent: never your name, your home, your records, your photos or your identity.
Looked-up results come from someone else's database and may be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Househand never saves one for you: a result lands on a form you review and confirm. The app proposes; you document. If the lookup finds nothing, the scanned number is still saved on your record so you can search for it later.
The lookup service may be slow, unavailable, or discontinued. Scanning does not depend on it, and neither does the rest of the app.
11. Reminders, records, and what they are not
Househand's reminders are local notifications scheduled by your own device. There is no server behind them. They can be delayed or missed if notifications are turned off, if the device is off, or if iOS decides otherwise. Please do not treat a reminder as the only thing standing between you and a flooded basement.
Two things Househand is not:
- It is not maintenance advice. Seeded service intervals are common-sense defaults, not instructions from a manufacturer or a professional. Follow your own manuals, and hire a qualified professional for anything involving gas, electricity, structure or water.
- It is not an appraisal or an insurance valuation. What you record about purchases, values, warranties and receipts is your own personal record. We do not guarantee that any insurer will accept it. Whether a claim is paid, and for how much, is decided by your insurance company under your policy.
Househand may link out to a vendor's website from one of your records. Those sites are not ours, and we are not responsible for them.
12. Apple's part in this
Apple sells you the app. Apple is not the author of it, and these terms are between you and Domum Digital LLC only. Specifically:
- Domum Digital, not Apple, is solely responsible for Househand and everything in it.
- Support is ours. Apple has no obligation to give you any maintenance or support for Househand. If you need help, write to househand@domumdigital.com.
- Warranty. To the extent any warranty is not effectively disclaimed below, Domum Digital is solely responsible for it. If Househand fails to conform to any warranty that does apply, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app, and to the maximum extent the law allows, that is Apple's entire warranty obligation. Everything else is our responsibility, not Apple's.
- Claims. Domum Digital, not Apple, handles any claim about the app: product liability, any failure to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar law.
- Intellectual property. If someone claims Househand infringes their intellectual property, Domum Digital, not Apple, is responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- Export law. You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Third-party terms. You agree to follow the terms of any third-party service the app relies on: Apple's, and your iCloud agreement.
- Apple may enforce this. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and when you accept them, Apple has the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
13. No warranty
Househand is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.
We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, that iCloud will always sync, that a reminder will always arrive, that a barcode lookup will find anything, or that data will never be lost. Keep iCloud on and keep an export.
Some states do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
14. Limits on what we owe you
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Domum Digital LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, records, profits or property, arising out of or connected to your use of Househand, including a missed reminder, a maintenance task not done, an insurance claim not paid, or a record not synced.
Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms or the app will not exceed the amount you paid us for Househand in the twelve months before the claim.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
15. Ending it
You can stop using Househand at any time. Delete the app and its records go with it; to remove what is in iCloud, use the iCloud settings on your device. Export first if you want to keep your records. See Section 8.
We may end your licence to use the app if you materially break these terms. If we ever do, your records are still yours: they are on your devices and in your iCloud, not with us, and nothing we do can reach them.
Sections 4, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 16 survive the end of this agreement.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that is not resolved between us will be heard in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, and we both agree to that jurisdiction, except that either of us may bring a claim in small-claims court.
If you live outside the United States, this does not take away any right you have under the mandatory consumer law of your own country.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, the effective date at the top of this page changes, and meaningful changes are noted in the app's release notes. Continuing to use Househand after a change means the current version applies to you. A change never takes away access to records you have already documented.
